Day 344 Small and Mighty

November 18, 2015

(If we live with an open and grateful attitude, every day will bring a gift. This is one of 365 gifts during the year I turned 70.)

The creation of a thousand forests is in one acorn.” ~ Ralph Waldo Emerson

On windy days, small round pellets rain on our roof and cover our driveway and walkway. It becomes difficult to walk without slipping and when I wear ridged shoes, the smaller acorns stick in the ridges. In spite of the inconveniences, I like acorn beauty and—their playfulness. Like children, they make noise and create a messy chaotic cluster but what I like most about them is their potential.

Just as the acorn contains the mighty oak tree, the Self has everything it needs to fulfill its destiny. When the inner conditions are right, it naturally emerges." ~ Derek Rydall

We too have the potential of a mighty oak in ourselves. We have choices. We can merely exist or we can grow and evolve into a being that spreads branches of love. Some people who believe love is  finite hoard it for a select few. They fear that if they give away too much, they will become empty. However, truth is that we do not destroy ourselves in giving love—we receive it back tenfold. The acorn does not destroy itself when it grows into an oak. Unlike the belief of many in this country, we will not destroy ourselves by showing compassion to refugees. We will become more than we are now—and so will they.

An infinity of forest lies dormant within the dreams on one acorn." Wayne W. Dyer

My gift today is a cluster of acorns.
